Craig Albert LaCourt is a New York based photographer whose unique style rides the line between fashion and editorial portrait photography. Using his honest and open approach to creative image making, he enjoys gaining the confidence of his subjects in order to collaborate in the making of striking photos. He also applies the same approach in his travel photography, observing and absorbing the location in order to understand it and draw from it. No matter the subject, the human element being the critical ingredient is his concept.

He was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and at the young age of two moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where he enjoyed growing up on Lake Superior’s majestic southern shore. He studied fine art photography in the BFA program at Western Michigan University, where he won multiple awards for his intriguing imagery while holding several solo shows and participating in multiple group shows.

Craig moved to New York in 2000 and enjoyed assisting for, working with, and befriending a plethora of talented photographers, traveling throughout the world on editorial and advertising projects. He has had his own work featured in several magazines and on numerous album covers as well as national promotions for record labels.

Craig currently lives in Red Hook, Brooklyn with his beautiful wife, Shami, and his dogs Muzzy and Oberon.
